Coaches are the heart of our program! Each season, two or more volunteer coaches inspire and guide a team through our tried-and-true curriculum. If you're ready to directly make an impact, then this role is for you.

Become a junior Coach

Junior Coaches are needed to inspire the next generation! Our Junior Coach program is for high school girls aged 16 to 18. Beyond serving as a role model to program participants, Junior Coaches work alongside Coaches, strengthening their leadership skills and gaining a sense of belonging and purpose.

5K Volunteers

Our end of season 5K celebration would not be possible without the help of our enthusiastic volunteers! To make the experience one to remember, there are many opportunities to get involved:

  • Cheer stations
  • Course marshals
  • Water stop
  • Finish line food and medals
  • Packet pick-up
  • And more!

Our Spring 5K event will take place on Sunday, May 19th at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach.

Group Opportunities

Are you part of a group or organization that wants to make an impact on our community? Girls on the Run would love to have you get involved with our program. Here are few ways you can make a difference while working together.

  • Volunteer together at a Girls on the Run 5K event. From cheer stations to water stops to handing out medals at the finish line and more – there are numerous ways for you to help bring this joyful end-of-season celebration to life!
  • Support with one-day volunteer opportunities.
  • Volunteer for or financially support a team for a season.

One-Time Opportunities

Project or Skill-Based Opportunities

Our council is seeking volunteers who can support on a project-by-project basis. Our current needs are: graphic design, photography and videography.
