Join Girls on the Run Hampton Roads for our inaugural Twilight 5K fundraiser! Worried about the heat? Don’t fret! This summer's 5K won’t take place until 6 pm. Enjoy our post-race party with a live DJ and food & beverage trucks! Each participant will receive a timed bib and t-shirt.

All profits from the race will go towards keeping girls in Hampton Roads and Western Tidewater healthy, confident, and joyful.

Our 5Ks would not be possible without the help of our enthusiastic volunteers! To make the experience one to remember, there are several opportunities to get involved:

  • Cheer Stations
  • Water Stop
  • Course Marshalls
  • Finish Line

True

The course for a 5K is 3.1 miles.

As a reminder, this is a fun, celebratory event for our participants and not a competitive race. While our fastest 5K participants will complete the course in 25 minutes, most cross the finish line in 30-50 minutes. Everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run or skip at their happy pace!

First, we understand that life happens, and circumstance might make it impossible to attend.

We strongly encourage that all participants attend and complete the 5K, as it is the goal that teams are preparing for all season long! It’s the ultimate opportunity to build confidence through accomplishment. Remember, this is the first 5K event for many – including coaches, participants, friends and family members. We are in it together!

For safety reasons, every participant must wear a 5K bib (included with 5K registration). Our council ensures every GOTR/H&S girl has a 5K buddy to safely guide her along the course. Course marshals are stationed on the 5K course and are trained to respond to any emergencies.

Yes. Girls on the Run 5K events are for everyone! All participants can walk, run, push, or roll safely and at their own happy pace. Designated parking spots are available.

A 5K Buddy is a family member or family-approved individual who is designated to complete the 5K with a GOTR or H&S girl. 5K Buddies must be at least 16 years old and are meant to motivate their girl and ensure she crosses the finish line safely.

Yes! This is encouraged! This is a great way to accomplish a goal together.

We highly encourage 5K Buddies, even for the virtual 5K.
